                   GOAL

Having worked as a musician from childhood and continuing through my own recent work with children, I see that the natural desire of children to present their creative products can be a great natural motivator for us, their teachers. It is for this reason that we have created this competition.
It is our desire to encourage children and young adults to explore the world of their sound imagination and to help them develop/evolve through this competition supported by Les Artistes en Herbe.
In Western Europe, the contests for children are very popular in the fields of the sport, drawing, musical instruments performance or song. Competitions on the level of the artistic disciplines like poetry, the literature or the composition are not so popular and require further approach.
It is important for us to promote the talents of young people in a teaching context, but without stressing on the competitiveness as in the “sporting” sense.
The goal of the project is to accompany the musical life of the child up to the age of adolescence and allow them to express their creativity without imposing our personal visions and preferences as pedagogues.
It would especially be a question to avoid the wasting of the childhood fertile years,
when the children’s creativity is at its maximum. To begin a sensitizing at the age of adolescence is a long process. It seems obvious that such a project would be integrated logically into the Luxembourg landscape, with the common efforts made by various institutions at this field (Philharmonics, Musical Youth, Conservatory etc).
The International Contest of Composition “ARTISTES EN HERBE" aims at the following main objectives:

Within the framework of section “Junior"
AT NATIONAL LEVEL

- to attract the attention of many talented children in Luxembourg
- to justify and encourage the children’s creativity within a teaching framework
and follow it up even beyond the contest
- the contest to be their first challenge towards the music composition

AT INTERNATIONAL LEVEL

- to collaborate with similar institutions abroad
- to enrich by the exchange of teaching experiences between the partners
- to attract attention on the richness and diversity of the cultural activities in Luxembourg

Within the framework of the section "Senior":
AT BOTH NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL LEVELS

- to widen the teaching repertory, the concert repertory of solo instrumental and chamber music in a field of “pedagogical work” with the height of an accessible
technical difficulty.
- to widen the repertory of contemporary works and to respond to a demand in this field which is increasing all the time.
- a collaboration with the foreign editors can be created to suit this contest.
Albena Petrovic - Vratchanska & Co

Since the arts exist, the tendency to compare itself with the others formed part of artist’s heart. Preparation for a contest - public or academic – is one of the most important elements in the training process. The envy to surpass brings the motivation. Therefore, a contest could give motivation on the same basis as well as a concert. In Western Europe, the contests for children are more popular in the fields of sports, drawing, instruments or song. The contests which require another approach - more creative or rather abstracted, not to say "intellectual" , like poetry, the literature or the composition

not so popular and, consequently, are not so current.

The chance makes the things well sometimes:
among others winning a contest.
Even if success is sometimes due to the luck, it is always caused
by a gesture navigator, which opens the door for the chance to intervene.
The conscious gesture which makes the chance
to play in our favour is thus necessary.
